82 year young old Fidel Castro defended the actions of the Cuban Taekwondo athlete who kicked a judge in the face during his Olympic match. As some of you may or may not know, comments defending the kicking in the face of innocent people are usually not made by former heads of state. But coming from a dictator who assumed power due to a coup (doup to a coup?) brought about from mercenary actions, it makes a lot of sense. Probably more sense than condemning the actions, in fact.
What was less sensical however was that Castro went on to condemn the "the repugnant mercenary actions" of boxing promoters and agents who lure Cuban athletes out of Cuba.
What I learned: Mercenary actions are ok if they benefit Fidel Castro, otherwise they're just barbaric.
